ERS Eng. Corp. has introduced an automatic tube mill for direct forming of ERW tubes. The line can make square and rectangular shapes from 4 by 4 by 0.12 in. to 10 by 10 by 0.31 in. It reaches speeds up to 115 FPM for light gauges and up to 49 FPM for heavier gauges without the need to produce preliminary round tubes.

The system features complete automation and communication among the uncoiler, leveler, shear and edge welder, and accumulator. Tube section changeover takes about 90 min. No roll changing is required for forming and calibration. All changes in tube sections are controlled automatically by a PLC.

The Tube & Pipe Journal became the first magazine dedicated to serving the metal tube and pipe industry in 1990. Today, it remains the only North American publication devoted to this industry, and it has become the most trusted source of information for tube and pipe professionals.
